The physician is responsible for providing medical services to Health Center patients in the field of specialization in which the physician completed training. Primary care physicians and Gynecologists must also provide on-call coverage as scheduled.
Essential Duties
- The physician is responsible for the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients including the ordering and following up of lab and other diagnostic tests and the final disposition of the patient
- When appropriate, the physician will coordinate care with other members of the health care team and refer patients when necessary for further diagnostic work-ups or treatment
- When warranted, the physician will admit the patient to the hospital and coordinate inpatient care
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved medical school
- Graduate of an approved residency program in internal medicine as a family practitioner
- NYS license to practice medicine and surgery. Board Certification or Board eligibility
- 1- to 2 years experience in the field
- Be able to communicate effectively with staff and patients
- Basic computer skills required
- Must be able to work with a culturally diverse population
- Must be able to collaborate with other medical staff in a cordial professional relationship
- Must work in a professional manner with staff as well as patients (respect, privacy, and professionalism are paramount)
