Renders professional nursing care to patients within assigned area of services; does related work as required; Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services or the Director of Women’s Services, the Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of the department. Prepares and submits records and reports as indicated, answers verbal and written inquires pertaining to patient care, and make unit rounds.
Essential Duties:
- Participates in the upkeep of patient records while identifying patient goals and compliance
- Delegates to Medical Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses selected aspects of care based on patient need, education and experience of the staff person
- Provides direction and supervision of non-professional staff
- Reports to the medical team any significant conditions or symptoms regarding patients during history intake
- Performs outreach and follow-up activities and documenting same in medical chart
- Coordinates clinical activities with the Director of Clinical Affairs, and the Chief of Service of the department
- Accepts modifications in assignments(s) and or initiates changes in activities according to the needs of the unit and contributes to the improvement of unit morale
- Attends in-house medical staff meetings and assures responsibility for professional development
- Administer Covid-19 nasal swabs
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- In the absence of the nurse coordinator will supervise LPNs, clerical and MA staff
- Reports to the nurse coordinator or his/her designee
Qualifications
- Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Knowledge of general nursing theory, practice, methods and techniques involved in the performance of nursing services
- Must be familiar with the policies, procedures, and regulations of the Health Center as it relates to nursing services
- Ability to plan, organize and make recommendations
- Competence in counseling and educating patients
- Excellent computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel, Email
- Background check required
- Must have a friendly and professional skills
- Excellent patient/customer service skills
- Must be able to communicate cleary to patients, vendors and employees of the network
- Must be able to to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds and withstand frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, pushing and pulling regularly throughout a regular work shift
